This is a major problem as more farms are absorbed into single units. Milk overproduction is ruining the natural diversity of the countryside and rivers. Land that is used for slurry disposal is now sterile except for grass, no other other organism can tolerate the ammonia and many other poisons. The milk is now also contaminated with antibiotics, hormones and veterinary medicines, this a human health disaster in the making. This has occurred due to the full year containment of cattle in sheds and the negative health issues caused by this.

Loch Lomond peasants or plebs - it feels like thisYou forget the residue from Biomass anaerobic digestors , funded with taxpayers money under Government green agenda , which is REALLY toxic and is practically given free to farmers to get rid of it , this is much worse than slurry , locks up elements and kills soil . They now water it down , after first users found out true cost .Slurry is bad enough , surface covered in dead worms after spreading slurry , but this is truely toxic : please do not blame farmers , they are only just keeping their heads above water , Green Agenda has skewed market, all draff - cheaper cattle feed goes to Biomass ,summer grazing lets have tripled in cost as Biomass owners pay premium to grow digester crops to feed them - actually with green money from tariff on all our energy bills ,and huge amounts of diesel is used to transport said crops { using cheap red diesel} - no big road tax like haulage industry , damage to roads , etc, etc.
