Forestry and Land Scotland is planning to remove large numbers of trees within Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Their Land Management Plan (LMP) is full of jargon which renders the process unintelligible. The 'Public Consultation' was carried out in a small village hall (post-it notes were the only way of putting a comment on an area of a displayed map) and it was almost impossible to get clear answers. I fear the LMP is just a guise for increased felling and, by default, increased income for the Scottish Government. I would like The Ferret to investigate and ask Forestry and Land Scotland why deforesting an SSSI is necessary and to press for a proper public consultation. This is the link to the LMP:
